SINGLE SPACE STALL

Designing Single Space Stalls in USM

STALL A: The international students were given a temporary stall at the Islamic Center in 2008. It draws good business even from the locals especially with the introduction of Mediteranean taste. Now the Islamic Center wants to build a permanent stall for them in same site.

STALL B: This stall is at the highly populated RST dormitory complex at USM. It sells the essential goods that are necessary for student's dorm and university life. It is located near a food court and surrounding tall dormitory buildings (hardscape).

STALL C: This stall is by Fajar Harapan lake and greeneries. It will sell snacks and drinks to joggers, students and USM staff who often visit this site for leisure, relaxing and exercising (softscape).

My task given is STALL C.

GROUND FLOOR PLAN

As my site is located in the greenery space which is closer to nature, thus I decide to design the stall to have tropical architecture with a pitched roof.
In addition, I have proposed three walkways to ensure a proper and smooth circulation. The 3 walkways are:
1. Walkway from Fajar Harapan Hostel which enable the students to purchase snacks and drinks       here, not only the joggers.
2. Walkway connects the existing path to the stall
3. Walkway for the outsiders (pedestrians)

A small bar is designed for allowing the joggers to enjoy their meals after exercising and also they can have a chit-chatting here.
The louvers have been proposed to allow natural ventilation for maintaining the comfort zone inside the stall.
To ensure the security, the roller shutter is used to close the opening of small bar after the business hours.
The overhangs have been extended for allowing the shaded areas around.

Materials:
1. WALL - Concrete
2. Wood trusses with no ceiling (post and beam)
3. Pad Foundation
4. Metal decking for the roof

Axonometric (EXPLODED VIEW)

My work had been selected and I had to give a presentation in front of not only the 3 lecturers, and also the visiting professors from Arab. In the end, the comments are well-presented graphically, texture of the roof have to be shown, good site plan by proposing the walkways (I'm the only one did it --- from what Dr.Sanusi said). Just the design I have to improve because I PLAY SAFE. Overall, it is not bad actually, looking forward to have a better final product for the next project.

Stay positive and FOCUS :-)
